Rajesh Karmani is originally from Pakistan and moved to Illinois in 2006 to work on obtaining his Phd in Computer Science. Raj is now a permanent resident of the U.S. and plans on seeking citizenship in the next 3 years. He is a great example of how someone who has chosen to immigrate to the United States has helped to improve the lives and welfare of so many in America. Using his computer skills, he developed an app that helps food businesses donate their unused, but perfectly good food. Using mobile technology, his company Zero Percent is coordinating pick-up of prepared and perishable food and redistribution to nearly 100 Chicago area organizations that serve those in need throughout the community.
